Ivedik Organized Industrial Zone forms light industrial agglomerate situated at the northern edge of Ankara. Founded in 2003 with slightly over 3.000 companies and a workforce of over 20.000; Ivedik OSB has witnessed steady expansion in its first decade. By 2011, company count surpassed 10.000, accumulating a workforce of over 100.000. With such high numbers involved in light industries; Teknopark Campus was developed to enhance the competitiveness of the zone by the introduction of research & development facilities; as a joint initiative between the board, Yıldırım Beyazıt University and the Ministry of Science, Technology & Industry.
As the project aims to produce micro-economic shift from manufacturing to R&D, the primary urban design criterion of the campus is developed around the idea of such transition: mutual presence of expressively connected office, workshop and social facilities. The flow patterns between these functions articulate the design of the campus, producing collective building clusters with fluent transitions between open, semi-open and fully enclosed spaces. Conversely, building masses provide intricate connections between different levels of the existing steep topography, integrating the artificial landscape into the natural.
