Architect, MSc. / Managing Partner

Graduating from Middle East Technical University Department of Architecture in 1987, Hüseyin Bütüner completed his master's degree at the same university with his thesis named “An Alternative Concept Of Green In Today's Urban Environment”. Since 1992, within ARTI Tasarım he completed many national and international projects such as Turkish Martyrs’ Memorial in Baku, METU Technopark SATGEB 1 Defense Industry Sub-region and Silver Blocks, Boston Scientific Building, Susuz Lake Recreation Area, Mogan Lakeshore Recreation Area. He was honored with many awards and mentions in outstanding national and international architectural, urban and landscape design project competitions he participated in. Bütüner contributed to Basic Design studios in the Department of Urban Design and Landscape Architecture at Bilkent University and Landscape Design studios at the Department of Architecture at METU beyond his architectural practice. He now continues his professional practice at Bütüner Architecture and Engineering Inc., which he founded in 2008, with outstanding projects such as IT Valley Turkey, OSTIM Teknopark, Ankara Teknopark, TED University City Campus, Teknopark Istanbul 1st and 2nd Research and Development Buildings, Hasankeyf New Urban Setting and various housing projects in Turkey and abroad.

Architect, MSc. / Design Director

Işıl Sencar Ertosun graduated from Middle East Technical University Department of Architecture in 2004 with the first rank and completed her master’s degree at the same university in 2007. As part of her master studies, she spent a year on exchange at TU Delft. Since 2004, she has gained professional experience in several architectural offices as well as academic experience in several universities as visiting lecturer and jury member. As the design coordinator of Bütüner since 2008, she has contributed to TED University City Campus, Teknopark Istanbul 1st and 2nd Research and Development Buildings, Teknopark Istanbul Master Plan, Bilkent University Lodgments, Marmara Restaurant and Aysel Sabuncu Brain Research Center projects. Ertosun also works as a part time instructor and architectural consultant at METU Department of Civil Engineering 4th Year design course since 2013.

Architect, Ph.D. / Architectural Design Coordinator

Graduated top of his class of architecture in 2010 from Middle East Technical University, Cem Korkmaz obtained his master’s degree in architecture, urbanism & building sciences at TU Delft two years later, with a research project and thesis on symbiotic building refurbishment strategies. A part of Bütüner team since graduation, Korkmaz prefers a complete and comprehensive approach to architecture, working in various digital production media and design scales. He has contributed as a conceptual designer and project coordinator in Bilkent University Swimming Pool, Ankara Teknopark, OSTIM Teknopark, and IT Valley Turkey projects. Korkmaz has completed his Ph.D. in architecture from METU in 2021 and is also employed as an instructor at Bilkent University Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture since 2014. 

Interior Designer, MA / Interior Design Coordinator

Burcu Bilgenoglu Umur graduated from Bilkent University Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design in 2004 with the third rank and completed her master’s degree at the same university in 2006. During her graduate studies she worked as an assistant instructor in Interior Design Studio. She has started her professional career at Tümer Onaran Architecture in 2006 then she moved to ARTI Tasarım. She has been working for Bütüner as an interior design coordinator since 2008 and has been working from Istanbul since 2011. She has contributed to JOYA Health and Life Club, Aviator Housing Project in Baku, a Fitness House in Shuvelan, TED University City Campus, Teknopark Istanbul 1st and 2nd Research and Development Buildings, Bilkent University Lodgments, Marmara Restaurant and Swimming Pool, Ankara Teknopark, OSTIM Teknopark, Borsa Istanbul RD Building and IT Valley Turkey projects.

Landscape Architect & Urban Designer / Landscape Architecture Project Partner

Graduating from Bilkent University Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Design as a honor student in 2001, Munzur started his professional career with ARTI Tasarım as a landscape architect. At ARTI, she worked in project design teams of Susuz Lake Recreation Area, Mogan Lakeshore Recreation Area, Park Vadi Residences, 312 Ulusoy Residences as a landscape project architect. Munzur has remained a part of Bütüner team since 2008 and has contributed to all commissions by the firm since its inception as its landscape project coordinator. She has also extended her portfolio beyond BUTUNER with landscape design projects for Gölbaşı Criminal Police Laboratory Buildings, Turkish Ministry of Finance Building and Iraq Ministry of Oil Building Master Planning.  Besides her professional practice, Munzur has been a part-time instructor at Bilkent University Department of Landscape and Urban Design since 2012.
