Aysel Sabuncu Brain Research Center is the first building to be built as part of our Bilkent Cyberpark New R&D Building Cluster project. Positioned at the northwestern corner of the site, the building runs parallel to the slope, creating a spacious plaza to the south which will provide access to future buildings. The southern façade facing the plaza is rendered as neutral as possible, whereas the northern façade facing the forest is articulated both in mass and in material. The building is accessed on two levels from the narrow western edge. While the lower ground floor serves magnetic resonance laboratories and technical facilities, access to office and seminar facilities are provided through a trapezoidal podium connected to the upper plaza. Building finishes, mass articulations and roof forms reflect the character and image of Bilkent University Campus, simultaneously setting up a one to one scale example for future development within the R&D cluster.
